Meteorological Summary:
 
  • High pressure over Florida will continue to promote mostly dry conditions today and into the weekend despite a weakening frontal boundary stalling to the west of Florida pushing it off into the Western Atlantic.
  • Sufficient moisture and breezy onshore winds will allow isolated to widely scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms to move onshore along the East Coast, moving inland across the Peninsula throughout the day; however, activity is expected to remain light and brief (10-25% chance of rain).
  • A few isolated showers and thunderstorms may also drift into the Western Panhandle ahead of the nearby frontal boundary.
  • Breezy easterly winds near 10-20 mph nearly statewide with wind gusts reaching upwards of 15-25 mph along the Peninsula and Keys and upwards of 5-15 mph elsewhere.
  • High temperatures in the low to middle 80s with portions of West-Central Florida reaching into the upper 80s.
  • Please keep in mind heat safety when out in the field by taking breaks from direct sunlight and drinking plenty of water.
  • Locally sensitive wildfire conditions will remain possible along the Florida Panhandle throughout the afternoon due to the lack of rainfall and dry grounds.
  • High risk for rip currentsalong Florida Panhandle and East Coast.
  • Minor to moderate riverine flooding is ongoing for the Withlacoochee and St. Johns River; The Withlacoochee River near Holder at SR-200 is within Moderate Flood Stage and is forecast to crest later today into tonight, just reaching the threshold for Major Flood Stage.
  • Mostly dry conditions can be expected overnight with isolated showers remaining possible along the East Coast throughout the overnight period (10-25% chance of rain).
  • Low temperatures in the 60s across North Florida, upper 60s to low 70s across Central Florida, low to middle 70s across South Florida, and upper 70s along the Keys.
  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fogpossible along portions of the North Florida and the Western Peninsula overnight or early Saturday morning.
  • NHC continues to minor 3 disturbances in the Atlantic Basin:
    • Southwestern Caribbean Sea; High (70%)chance of development through 7 days.
    • Northeastern Caribbean Sea & Greater Antilles; Low (10%)chance of development through 7 days.
    • North Atlantic; Low (10%)chance of development through 7 days.
