Meteorological Summary:
 
  • Isolated to widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms along the Florida Panhandle through the afternoon and evening (20-40% chance of rain).
  • Scattered sea breeze shower and thunderstorm activity can be expected across portions of the Northern Peninsula, South Florida, and the Keys (35-65% chance of rain) with isolated to widely scattered activity across Central Florida (10-35% chance of rain).
  • A few thunderstorms during the peak heating hours of the day may be strong to locally severe and capable of producing gusty winds, lightning, and heavy downpours.
  • Ponding water and localized floodingcannot be ruled out with heavy rainfall rates over already saturated and vulnerable soils and throughout the urban and poor drainage/low-lying areas in the Florida Peninsula.
  • Breezy winds with gusts near 15-20 mphpossible at times.
  • High temperatures in the 80s to low 90s with heat indices in the 90s and triple digits (100-103) along the Peninsula and Keys.
  • Moderate to high risk for rip currents along Florida Panhandle and East Coast.
  • Coastal Flood Advisoriesissued for St. Johns River Basin for minor flooding.
  • River Flood Warningsin effect along the St. Johns River at Astor, Withlacoochee River near Pinetta (CR-150), and several West-Central Florida Rivers and Creeks for minor flooding; Monitoring riverine flooding expected along several mainstem Suwannee Valley Rivers for minor to moderate flooding.
  • Isolated to scattered showers may continue statewide into the overnight hours as abundant tropical moisture begins to stream into a state and a frontal boundary moves through North Florida (20-55% chance of rain).
  • Low temperatures in the low to middle 70s across the Florida Panhandle and Suwannee Valley with middle to upper 70s across the Peninsula and low 80s along the Keys.
  • Areas of patchy fog and low clouds will be possible across the state overnight into early Sunday morning.
  • Development of Invest 92L over the Gulf of Mexico is expected, and a tropical depression or storm is likely to form later today or on Sunday while it moves slowly eastward or the southwestern Gulf of Mexico; high (70%)chance of development through the next 48 hours; regardless of development, multiple rounds of heavy rainfall will be possible across portions of the Peninsula and Keys.
