EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
- This weekend’s system has moved across the Peninsula and over the western Atlantic waters but continues to bring isolated to scattered showers this morning east of the I-75 corridor (15-30% chance of rain).
- Breezy wind gusts of 25-30 mph can be expected to continue along the Florida East Coast through the morning hours before diminishing later in the afternoon and evening as the low moves further away from the coast.
- Mostly dry conditions can be expected across the Panhandle and West Florida as high pressure develops and moves towards the Gulf Coast states throughout the day.
- Relative humidity values will fall below critical thresholds across the Panhandle and Big Bend this afternoon creating locally sensitive wildfire conditions; however, calm winds and recent rainfall will jeep the overall wildfire threat low.
- Mostly dry and calm conditions return across the state this evening and overnight as high pressure settles over the Gulf Coast states (near 0% chance of rain).
- Calm winds and clear skies will allow for low temperatures to fall into the low to middle 30s across the I-10 corridor and interior North Florida through Nature Coast, with some areas experiencing near or below freezing temperatures (30-32 degrees) and patchy to widespread frost.
- A Freeze Watch has been issued for portions of the Suwannee River Valley where sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31-degrees are possible overnight and early Tuesday morning.
- A large ocean swell along Space and Treasure Coasts will create dangerous wave heights of 6-9’ and a high risk for rip currents along the Florida East Coast. West-Central Florida beaches can expect a high risk for rip currents due to onshore winds.
- Minor riverine flooding continues for the Apalachicola River near Blountstown following heavy rainfall north of the river basin.
