Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Dense Fog Advisories are in effect through the mid-morning hours across West-Central and South Florida as dense fog and low clouds have reduced visibility to ¼ of a mile or less at times.
  • Dissipating fog and low clouds through the mid-to-late morning hours will give way to a mixture of sunshine and clouds across the state during the day.
  • A slow-moving cold front will continue to push through the Big Bend this morning and through the Peninsula later in the day, bringing isolated to scattered showers (15-25% chance of rain).
  • Shower activity along the frontal boundary is anticipated to remain brief in nature and heavy rainfall is not expected.
  • Slightly above to above normal temperatures for this time of year can be expected this afternoon for much of the state as high temperatures will reach the 70s to middle 80s.
  • Cooler and drier air will push in behind the frontal boundary across the Panhandle and Big Bend as winds shift out of the north to northwest this evening and overnight.
  • A moderate to high risk for rip currents can be expected along the Panhandle, with East-Central Florida beaches seeing a moderate risk for rip currents. All other beaches can expect a low risk for rip currents.
  • River Flood Warnings are in effect for the St. Johns River at Astor, Aucilla River at Lamont and Sopchoppy River near Sopchoppy as minor flooding is forecast or ongoing.
