Meteorological Summary:
- Mostly sunny skies and near-zero rain chances can be expected across the Sunshine State today, courtesy of an area of high pressure.
- Winds become more southerly through the day, with coastal wind gusts reaching 15-20 mph this afternoon.
- Temperatures moderate overnight as moisture returns to the state, setting the stage for a more active weather period Friday.
- Low relative humidity values, increasing drought conditions, and the lack of rainfall will yield an elevated wildfire threat over interior portions.
- Areas of severe drought expand to the southwest of Lake Okeechobee on this week’s Drought Monitor as rainfall deficits continue to grow.
- A moderate to high risk of rip currents can be expected along all Panhandle and East Coast beaches today.
