Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2

Meteorological Summary:

Mostly sunny skies and near-zero rain chances can be expected across the Sunshine State today, courtesy of an area of high pressure.
Winds become more southerly through the day, with coastal wind gusts reaching 15-20 mph this afternoon.
Temperatures moderate overnight as moisture returns to the state, setting the stage for a more active weather period Friday.
Low relative humidity values, increasing drought conditions, and the lack of rainfall will yield an elevated wildfire threat over interior portions.
Areas of severe drought expand to the southwest of Lake Okeechobee on this week’s Drought Monitor as rainfall deficits continue to grow.
A moderate to high risk of rip currents can be expected along all Panhandle and East Coast beaches today.
