Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:

  • Mostly sunny skies and near-zero rain chances can be expected across the Sunshine State today, courtesy of an area of high pressure.
  • Winds become more southerly through the day, with coastal wind gusts reaching 15-20 mph this afternoon.
  • Temperatures moderate overnight as moisture returns to the state, setting the stage for a more active weather period Friday.
  • Low relative humidity values, increasing drought conditions, and the lack of rainfall will yield an elevated wildfire threat over interior portions.
  • Areas of severe drought expand to the southwest of Lake Okeechobee on this week’s Drought Monitor as rainfall deficits continue to grow.
  • A moderate to high risk of rip currents can be expected along all Panhandle and East Coast beaches today.
