Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

Meteorological Summary:
  • A weakening cold front will continue to push southward across the southern Peninsula providing isolated showers across South Florida and they Keys (25-55% chance of rain). A rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out this afternoon during the peak heating hours of the day.
  • Breezy northerly to northeasterly winds will set up along the immediate east coast, and along West-Central Florida, will allow wind gusts to reach upwards of 20-25 mph at times.
  • High temperatures will reach into the low to middle 60s across North Florida with the help of mostly sunny conditions, while Central and South Florida will be in the 70s and low 80s with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
  • Mostly clear conditions and cool temperatures along the Suwannee River Valley and interior Northeast Florida will allow for low temperatures in the middle to upper 30s, and light winds will allow for patchy frost to develop along interior areas.
  • Cloudy skies will build in overnight across much of the state allowing low temperatures to reach the upper 30s to middle 40s across the Panhandle and Big Bend, upper 40s to middle 50s across Central Florida, and 60s and low 70s across South Florida.
  • Northerly to northeasterly post-frontal winds will create a moderate to high risk for rip currents beaches along the Panhandle and Florida east coast. West Coast beaches have returned to a low risk for rip currents.
  • Much drier air will filter in behind the cold front will drop relative humidity values into the upper 20% to middle 30% from North Florida and into Central Florida, as well as portions of Southwest Florida creating an elevated risk for wildfires. Winds near 10-15 mph this afternoon will help to limit red flag conditions.
