Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Patchy to locally dense fog stretches across several regions along the Panhandle and Big Bend this morning with the help of abundant moisture in place.
  • Mostly cloudy skies can be expected across North Florida due a stalling frontal boundary remaining to the north of the Sunshine State.
  • Moisture along the frontal boundary may fuel isolated showers this morning and into the afternoon along the eastern Panhandle and Big Bend (20-50% chance of rain), with a rumble of thunder possible along the coastline.
  • High pressure off the Florida east coast will keep conditions mostly sunny and dry, with a few isolated showers along Treasure Coast and the southeast coastline this morning and afternoon (10-20% chance of rain).
  • Temperatures will be warmer than normal for this time of year with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s to middle 80s across the state.
  • Warm and abundantly moist air overnight night will help the potential for another foggy night across much of the state, with patchy to locally dense fog possible along North Florida and into the Peninsula.
  • Onshore flow along Panhandle and east coast beaches will keep a moderate to high risk for rip currents in place for beaches.
  • Foggy conditions overnight may further reduce visibilities where there are ongoing wildfires.
