Meteorological Summary:
- Numerous showers and thunderstorms develop over the southern Peninsula (60-90% chance of rain); a few thunderstorms may be strong.
- Lower rainfall chances for portions of North Florida today; only a slight chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm (10-20% chance of rain).
- Showers and thunderstorms develop over the western Panhandle (40-60% chance of rain); activity to dissipate after sunset.
- Marginal Risk for Flash Flooding (level 1 of 4) over the southern Peninsula.
- A moderate to high risk of rip currents can be expected along most Panhandle and Atlantic Coast beaches today.
- The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two systems in the Atlantic Basin; Invest 94L has a 70% (high) chance of development over the next 5 days and a potential low pressure area in the northern Gulf has a 20% (low) chance of tropical development over the next 5 days.
- These systems do not pose a threat to Florida at this time, but will continue to be monitored. Additional forecast details will be provided in a Tropics Briefing Packet this morning.
