Meteorological Summary:
  • A weak cold front will continue to push southward across Central Florida today and will combine with high humidity, warm temperatures and local seabreeze boundaries to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms today across much of Central and South Florida.
  • Storms could be briefly strong to severe today and will be capable of producing locally damaging wind gusts (40-60 mph), frequent lightning, small hail, and heavy downpours.
  • Across North Florida, drier air will limit storm potential today with only a 20-30% chance of afternoon showers and storms possible near the coast.
  • Statewide heat index values should be below 106 degrees today.
  • Onshore flow will yield a moderate to high risk of rip currents along most Panhandle and Atlantic Coast beaches today.
  • Tropical cyclone development is not expected over the next 5 days.
