Meteorological Summary:
  • Hot temperatures expected today with highs in the lower to middle 90s with heat index values upward of 105 degrees.
  • Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with the best chance of rain along the East Coast.
  • There is a moderate to high risk of rip currents for Atlantic beaches and Franklin County in the Panhandle.
  • A tropical wave near the Bahamas has a medium chance of development once in the Gulf of Mexico, bringing increased rain chances to the state this weekend.
  • Lake Okeechobee average elevation is 13.92 feet, which is 0.55 feet below normal for this time of year.
