Meteorological Summary:
- Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across much of the state today.
- A few storms could become strong to briefly severe this afternoon with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.
- Heat index values of 101-107 are possible across much of the state.
- There is a moderate rip current risk for most Panhandle and most East Coast beaches.
- The wildfire threat across North Florida is low.
- Lake Okeechobee average elevation is 11.47 feet, which is 2.15 feet below normal for this time of year.
