Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 3 - Monitoring 
 
 
Meteorological Summary:
  • A large swath of rain and embedded thunderstorms ahead of a cold front will continue to affect much of the state today and tonight before exiting during the day on Saturday.
  • Heavy rainfall and severe weather possible today across much of the Big Bend, Northeast Florida and Central Florida.
  • Flood and Flash Flood Watches remain in effect for much of North Florida and the Nature Coast.
  • Minor to moderate river and creek flooding is expected to continue across much of North Florida during the next several days. Moderate flooding is ongoing for the Alapaha River near Jennings and the upper Suwannee River near Benton. Moderate flooding is forecast to occur within the next few days for more areas along the upper Suwannee River, the Chipola River near Altha and the Santa Fe River at Three River Estates.
  • High rip current risk continues at all Panhandle beaches and most Southeast Florida beaches today.
  • Lake Okeechobee average elevation is 12.81 feet, which is 1.92 feet below normal for this time of year.
