Meteorological Summary:
- Showers and thunderstorms will begin to arrive in the western Panhandle later this afternoon or this evening and spread eastward overnight into the Big Bend ahead of a cold front.
- Some storms could be severe with isolated waterspouts/tornadoes, gusty winds in excess of 50mph and heavy rain of 1-2” which could cause flooding issues. A greater severe weather threat exists on Friday.
- Breezy onshore winds and waves of 3-6’ will result in a high rip current risk for all Panhandle beaches and most Southeast Florida beaches today.
- Minor to moderate river and creek flooding is expected to continue across much of North Florida during the next several days.
- Lake Okeechobee average elevation is 12.80 feet, which is 1.94 feet below normal for this time of year.
