Join us for the city of Clearwater's Black History Month special event: 9th Annual "Night at the Library: Music is in the Air!" It is from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27, at the North Greenwood Library, 905 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. We hope to see you there!

Main Library Honored as Historic Carnegie Library With $10,000 Award
The Clearwater Public Library System has been awarded a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York as part of "Carnegie Libraries 250," an initiative recognizing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and honoring historic Carnegie libraries across the nation.
Opened in 1916, the Clearwater Main Library is one of 14 Carnegie libraries in Florida built through Andrew Carnegie’s historic library program. The gift recognizes the library’s lasting role as a community resource and a “cradle of democracy,” a phrase Carnegie used to describe the importance of free public libraries.
The funds, received in January 2026, will support programs and initiatives that serve the educational, cultural and informational needs of the Clearwater community as the nation marks this milestone anniversary.

Meet the Librarian Bringing Woodworking and Creativity to the Library
Librarian Thomas Shepherd brings his lifelong passion for woodworking to the Clearwater Main Library, introducing patrons to traditional hand-tool techniques while sharing the history and stories behind the craft in a welcoming, creative environment.
Shepherd leads the library’s monthly Woodworking Projects program, a hands-on class for adults of all skill levels. Each month features a new project offered across three small-group sessions, allowing for individualized instruction as participants create functional pieces like cutting boards and desk organizers. The program has grown to include woodworking lab time and is part of the library’s expanding Maker offerings.
The next session takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 13, at the Main Library's Creation Studio, 100 N. Osceola Ave.
