What do you get when you combine Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" with a bunch of spirited seniors? Oldtown funk.
Singer Alex Boye decided to infuse "Uptown Funk" with a serious dose of old-school cool, and enlisted the help of a few seniors with some totally impressive dance moves. They recreated the music video, complete with an electric scooter, to a T. Seriously, Bruno, watch out.

DCOA
is committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable seniors have access to the
agency's home and community-based programs and services, including nutrition
programs, which will help them to maintain their independence and quality of
life. To effectively accomplish this goal, DCOA is establishing the Nutrition
Task Force, which will evaluate the current nutrition policy and programs and
identify opportunities for improvement.
The
Task Force is composed of a combination of experts in public health and community
nutrition who are responsible for the senior nutrition programs, Senior Service
Network stakeholders involved in the implementation of these programs, and
external organizations advocating on behalf of seniors.
The
Task Force's work will encourage open communication and collaboration between
all stakeholders aimed at improving current eligibility criteria for DCOA
congregate and home-delivered meal programs that best meet the needs of
District residents aged 60 years and older. Additionally, their work will
direct program policies utilizing market demand data to ensure that
programmatic objectives and policies align with the practical needs of seniors
served by the agency. For more information please contact Darrell Jackson, Jr. at darrell.jackson2@dc.gov.
DCOA is
seeking centenarians age 100 or older to honor at an upcoming event to celebrate the
District's oldest residents. If you know of a centenarian that should be
honored, please make sure they are registered with the D.C. Office on
Aging. We would like to know their name, date of birth and information on
how to formally invite them to the event. To register a D.C. resident who
is a centenarian, please call 202-724-5622 or send an email to darlene.nowlin@dc.gov.
