Mayor Bowser announced that she will host a series of
three Budget Engagement Forums throughout the District in February. The forums
will be open to the press and public. The announcement took place at the
Council-Mayor Breakfast where Mayor Bowser and cabinet officials discussed the
current budget landscape with members of the DC Council.
“In Fresh Start February, my Administration will
continue to focus on fiscal responsibility and transparency,” said
Mayor Bowser. “We look forward to working with the Council and the public
to develop smart solutions to support our key priorities, like investing in
education, job training and affordable housing.”

priorities. The Budget Engagement Forums are scheduled for Thursday, February

n4a is pleased to announce
that the Older Americans Act reauthorization has cleared a critical hurdle in
the legislative process. Today, members of the Senate Committee on Health,
Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) unanimously approved S. 192 and cleared
it for floor consideration. (Please see past n4a Legislative Updates for details on
this bipartisan compromise bill, which has n4a’s support.)
Committee members were able to resolve long-standing dissent over the OAA
funding formula that stymied progress in the last congress. Committee approval
positions Older Americans Act reauthorization to be cleared by the full Senate
as one of the early pieces of legislation in the new Congress. This is a great
step forward. Read more here.
