For some customer transactions, an in-person visit is required. Prepare yourself to visit DC DMV by knowing what documents you need before leaving home. To help you, DC DMV has a specific Know Before You Go section on its website. Additionally, a document verification guide is also available online, and it is a step-by-step process based on the service you need. By knowing what documents you need prior to your in-person visit, you'll be better prepared when you stop by any DC DMV location.
Ticket tips is back! One of the most common errors vehicle owners make when contesting a ticket is not providing documentation about their vehicle. For example, you receive a Notice of Unsatisfied Parking Tickets in the mail and immediately notice that the vehicle listed is not yours. So, you submit a request for adjudication online and send DC DMV a letter stating that it is not your vehicle. A letter is not sufficient proof. DC DMV needs a copy of your registration, which has your name, tag number, and make and model of your vehicle. By doing so, you are providing the hearing examiner with evidence to use when evaluating your case. Details about what documentation to provide when submitting a request for adjudication are available on DC DMV's website under First Level Review.
All DC DMV locations will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014 for Independence Day. Normal business hours will resume on Saturday, July 5th.
