DCOA E*News At-A-Glance
Mayor Gray attended the grand
opening for the nutrition site at the Vicksburg Building hosted by Seabury
Resources for Aging, the agency leading services for DCOA in Ward 5. The new meal program is located at 3005
Bladensburg Rd. NE in the Fort Lincoln community.
Opening additional sites, like this
one, helps meet the agency’s goal to provide all seniors in the District with nutritious meals, physical and recreational activities,
and be financially prepared for retirement and their long-term care needs. During
the week, the site will provide nutritious mid-day meals, supportive social
services and recreational programs for persons age 60 and older.
Residents interested in registering for the
program, should contact 202-529-8701 or visit www.seaburyresources.org for more information.
DCOA participated in the NBC4 Health and Fitness
Expo, reaching hundreds of visitors and providing them the opportunity to
calculate their Body Mass Index, see a performance by the MC Steppers and meet
Ms. Senior D.C. Nancy A. Berry.
DCOA was also able to highlight the recent Washington
Post article on the District’s Nursing Home Transition Program and provide great
giveaways and information and resources for District residents age 60 and
older, persons with disabilities age 18 and older and their caregivers.
If you or your organization is interested in having
DCOA present its programs and services to your group, call 202-724-5622.
