New Issuance Process Begins Soon

Central Issuance

Reminder - The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) will implement new credentials and a central issuance process beginning Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Since credentials will no longer be issued over the counter, DC DMV will issue temporary paper credentials that are valid for 45 days. The new driver license or identification card should arrive in approximately 15 days and will not be mailed to PO Boxes. More information is available on DC DMV's website.

Ticket Tips

Ticket Tips

A Notice of Unsatisfied Parking Ticket has arrived in the mail, and you see that it's not your vehicle. What do you do?

A. Recycle the notice and ignore it, or B. Submit a request for adjudication? While many people ignore the notice because it's not their vehicle, legally they are responsible for the ticket. So, you should submit a request for adjudication online and include your current vehicle registration to show that the make and model of your car is different than the one listed on the ticket. DC DMV will notify you in writing once a decision is rendered, which usually takes about six months.

Holiday Closing

Thanksgiving

All DC DMV locations will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Regular business hours will resume on Friday, November 29. Expect high volume before and after the holiday. "Skip the Trip" and use DC DMV's online and mail services
