“Mayor Gray to the World: Washington Is Not Another Company Town”
 Starting in April, the mayor of Washington, DC, Vincent Gray, will hold office hours at the city’s fledging tech incubator, called 1776. The space itself is not much –15,000 square feet in a building in the city’s Downtown. But what it represents is crucially important to Gray, so for two hours a month any and all from the tech community can meet with him there to discuss the technology industry in the District and what it offers to companies that may be seeking a foothold on the East Coast or Mid-Atlantic.

Immigration: It's a Black Thing, Too
 Approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants now living in the United States, 400,000 are Black, hailing from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. To call attention to their distinct needs, about 200 Black immigrants, representatives from labor and grassroots organizations, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus rallied on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court on March 20th.

Walter Reed Interim Use Survey
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), acting as the Walter Reed Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA), recently engaged the Urban Land Institute (ULI Washington) to convene a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) to examine the feasibility and potential of temporary uses on the District’s portion of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center. ANC 4A03 Commissioner Stephen Whatley is providing a Walter Reed Interim Use Survey for any Ward 4 resident and will compile the results to present to TAP for consideration as a part of their recommendations.

DHCD to Host Needs Assessment Hearings
The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will host series of public hearings on Housing and Community Development Needs in the District of Columbia.
