Dear Washingtonians,
With the weather cooling down, this weekend will be a good opportunity to take advantage of the many family-friendly events happening across DC.
On Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you can enjoy Kingman and Heritage Islands at the Kingman Island Friends and Family Day – an all-ages event celebrating the islands as a unique space in DC dedicated to conservation, environmental education, and recreation. Come for the boat tours, arts and crafts, and wildlife demonstrations and stay to meet Ana the Shad.
From noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Riggs LaSalle Recreation Center, residents, neighbors, and friends of Ward 4 are invited to Ward 4 Family Fun Day. There will be games and activities, music, and giveaways.
Also on Saturday, if you’re looking to head Downtown, the National Building Museum is hosting a unique family-friendly event: The Big Build. This will be a hands-on festival that allows kids to learn about architecture, construction, and more.
Of course, this weekend is also one of DC’s favorite Halloween activities: Boo at the Zoo.
I’m grateful for all the teams and organizations supporting these events and reminding us why DC is such a great place to raise a family. Enjoy the weekend.
Sincerely,
