Dear Washingtonians,
Last weekend was a busy one in DC. I had fun riding alongside thousands of other cyclists at the DC Bike Ride. And Art All Night was a huge success. In neighborhoods across all eight wards, people were out, celebrating and enjoying the culture and creativity of Washington, DC. We’re grateful for the many artists and organizations that delivered a phenomenal two-night experience for our city.
Now, we’re heading into another big weekend – and the last weekend before the official start of fall. CBC Week continues through the weekend. H Street Festival will bring thousands of people to Northeast, and a Thai street festival will bring visitors Downtown to Pennsylvania Avenue. Hispanic Heritage Month and Oktoberfest celebrations are happening across the city. There’s a 5K on Saturday and then the DC Half Marathon on Sunday. Of course, also on Sunday: the Commanders will take on the Cowboys, so go Commanders!
No matter what you decide to do, plan ahead, take Metro when you can, sign up for Alert DC and make sure you’re tracking road closures, and have fun.
Sincerely,
This week, Mayor Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA) kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month, observed nationally from September 15 through October 15. This year’s celebration carries special significance as MOLA marks its 50th anniversary: five decades of advocacy, culture, and partnership with DC’s Latino communities.
