December 13, 2024
Dear Washingtonians,
If you’ve ever joined us for a New Year’s Day Fresh Start 5K, you understand why the event is so popular — it’s not only a celebration of the new year, but a celebration of DC. It is an opportunity to kick off the year with energy, music, and community.
Now, we invite you to register for the 11th annual Fresh Start 5K. Whether you run, walk, or cheer on friends and family members from the sidelines, there will be something for everyone, including the return of the Kids Dash.
Register at fitdcfreshstart5k2025.splashthat.com.
If you register ahead of January 1, you can pick up your Fresh Start 5K swag in advance – a T-shirt, runner's bib, and a medal. Avoid the lines and pick up your race day essentials from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26 and Friday, December 27.
Packet Pick-Up Locations:
- Columbia Heights Community Center (1480 Girard Street NW)
- Deanwood Community Center (1350 49th Street NE)
- King-Greenleaf Recreation Center (201 N Street SW)
- Takoma Aquatic Center (300 Van Buren Street NW)
- Turkey Thicket Recreation Center (1100 Michigan Avenue NE)
Join us to set your goals in motion in Anacostia Park, one of DC's most beautiful outdoor spaces. Let's step into 2025 stronger and more inspired than ever.
See you at the starting line!
Sincerely,
Check out photos from this week here.
Tomorrow, join us at the DC Armory for the Pre-K3 - Grade 8 EdFEST, your opportunity to explore options for the upcoming school year.
Families will also be able to connect with representatives from DCPS and public charter schools to ask questions about academic programs, support services, extracurriculars, and more. Whether you're new to the school system or simply exploring options, EdFEST is your one-stop shop for planning your child's education.
Recreational activities from the DC Department of Parks and Recreation will be offered. And free meals for youth will be provided by DC Central Kitchen, while supplies last.
