Employee Monthly Newsletter September 2024 |
|
Message from Director Robinson
 |
|
Greetings #TeamDMV and Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! With just one quarter left until the new year, I can't thank you enough for all of your hard work and dedication to our agency and residents. We are truly Saving Lives Every Day! I hope you will find our September 2024 newsletter fun, engaging and informative.
Remember, this newsletter is for you and your feedback is always welcome.
A few announcements:
|
✅ Child Passenger Safety Week, held September 15-21, 2024, brings heightened awareness to how parents and caregivers can keep children safe in vehicles. #DidYouKnow 🤔 in 2022, 39 percent of children killed in car crashes were unrestrained? It is important to make sure your child is in the right seat for their age and size – and that the seat is installed correctly.
✅ Your Mental Health Matters! I want to remind you that there are confidential resources available if you or someone you know needs help. You are not alone. Call 988 if you or someone else is experiencing a mental health, substance use or suicidal crisis. Call the District’s Mental Health Hotline 24/7 at 1-(888)-793-4357 to speak with a behavioral health professional and get help solving a problem or to learn more about resources available to you. Never be afraid to ask for help. 💚💚
✅ Here at #TeamDMV, we manage with an open-door policy. Do not hesitate to reach out to myself and any member of the DMV senior leadership team, for questions, clarifications or to address your work issues and concerns. For HR matters, we have a dedicated, seasoned HR team, who can provide you with necessary information. We welcome your questions, suggestions and feedback. This is how we grow and this is how we better serve you. We have various ways you can communicate with DMV senior leadership:
-
In person/by phone: Please coordinate with our staff assistants to confirm availability for a conversation. Please note availability may not be immediate.
-
By Teams/Email: We are always virtually connected and work diligently to respond to emails and Teams chats.
-
Online Employee Suggestion Box: Address issues and make suggestions by submitting your feedback anonymously through the intranet. We have been able to make operational changes and implement agency initiatives, thanks to those suggestions.
-
Employee Survey (coming in FY 2025): This will be a major opportunity for all employees to address areas of improvement in a detailed, anonymous, comprehensive format. Information captured from these surveys will guide DMV in a direction that better serves the agency.
With the variety of opportunities to get in touch with leadership, I expect that the lines of communication will stay open.
Thank you for your hard work and enjoy the rest of your September, #TeamDMV. 💖
-Gabriel

#TeamDMV's Job Prep Workshop for District Residents is back! 💼🖊️📝
DC DMV will host two employment workshops for District residents on today, September 19 and Saturday, September 21, from 6-8 pm. The two sessions will take place at 95 M Street SW.
The mini clinics, which will be led by DMV's human resources and training teams will focus on key interview skills, including how to answer interview questions, common interview “do’s and don’ts” and resume preparation tips and best practices.
To ensure optimal learning, the attendees will be split into three cohorts that will be housed throughout the building. One group will be in the basement, another will be in the service center's waiting area and the third will be on the second floor in the space in front of the elevator.
Share this information and encourage family and friends to attend. Space is limited, so interested residents are encouraged to register early. 🚨 The Eventbrite ticket and a valid DC credential will be required for entry.
Note to employees at 95 M Street SW: Set up on the second floor may begin around 5 pm and the sessions will begin just after 6 pm. If your office is located on the second floor, specifically within suite 200, please be advised that this session will be taking place outside of your entry way. Please ensure noise is kept to a minimum and know you may have an audience present if you happen to leave your workstation after the sessions begin at 6 pm.
