The Funding Alert is a bi-weekly resource produced by Serve DC highlighting grant opportunities and resources for community-based, faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and District Government agencies.

Funding Feature

The Chesapeake Bay Trust, US EPA Region III, Chesapeake Bay Program, and WV DEP are excited to announce that the Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns Grant Program is now open!

This grant program aims to help communities develop and implement plans that reduce stormwater runoff, increase the number and amount of green spaces in urban areas, improve the health of local waters and the Chesapeake Bay, and enhance quality of life and community livability. Example projects include design and construction of green streets, rain gardens, green roofs, pollinator gardens, white papers/tools on green infrastructure, and more.

Eligible Project Tracks and Funding Request Amounts:

Track 1: Conceptual Plans (up to $20,000)
Track 2: Engineered Designs (up to $35,000)
Track 3: Implementation/Construction (up to $175,000)
Track 4: Community Greening (up to $50,000)
Track 5: White Papers (up to $20,000)
Track 6: Charrette/Technical Planning Assistance (no direct funding)

This program can support projects within the Chesapeake Bay watershed portion of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.

The DC Volunteer Snow Program, brought to you by Mayor Bowser and Serve DC, matches volunteers with senior residents and those with access and functional needs for snow removal services in the aftermath of a winter event. Each winter season, our goal is to ensure that Serve DC Volunteer Snow Team members/volunteers adopt a resident that has submitted a Snow Removal Request. With your help, we are building a safer, stronger DC.

Board Position: 3-year Term on Serve DC's Commission for National and Community Service:

Serve DC is looking for engaged residents to join the Commission for National and Community Service. The Commission's purpose is to encourage community service and volunteer participation as a means of community and state problem-solving; to promote and support voluntary citizen involvement in government and private programs throughout the District of Columbia; to develop a comprehensive vision and strategic plan for community service initiatives in the District of Columbia; and to serve as the District's liaison between national and other state organizations in concert with the District of Columbia strategic plan.

Interested residents engaged in the nonprofit, youth, philanthropic, business, and labor communities are particularly encouraged to apply.
