Last Month, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Christina Grant, and the Executive Director of the Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes (OST Office) Dr. Shontia Lowe, announced that more than $22 million will be awarded to more than 120 nonprofit organizations that offer out-of-school time (OST) programming. These funds will expand opportunities for more than 15,000 District of Columbia school-aged youth. These programs will also provide a range of free and low-cost OST programs focusing on academic achievement, creative and performing arts, athletics, STEM, financial literacy, career development, and more.

There will be an OST Commission Meeting dedicated to discussing and voting on the final draft of the OST Office's 2023-2026 Strategic Plan on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 6:00 pm. Any individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to comment at this meeting should notify the OST Office in advance by email at learn24@dc.gov. Individuals should furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and organizational affiliation, and submit one electronic copy of their testimony two business days prior to the meeting.

The District of Columbia Government’s Department of Human Resources is proud to offer its District Leadership Program (DLP). The DLP is an internship program designed to provide tomorrow’s leaders with the knowledge, tools, skills, and experiences that can be readily applied to their future challenges and pursuits, whether personal or professional. The Year Round FY 24 program will operate from Monday, October 23, 2023 - Friday, May 24th 2024. It is a part time 24 hours per week internship experience.

Preferred consideration will be given to those requests where the project, organization, or initiative focuses on education, environment, or youth.
