Join an incredible group of Small Business Growth Fund recipients by applying for a $5,000-$25,000 grant! Hello Alice is back with more funds for small business owners, and we can’t wait to hear about how you plan to grow your business in 2023. The Small Business Growth Fund — presented by Hello Alice and the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) with funding from Etsy and Progressive - is now accepting applications until July 21, 2023, at 6 p.m. ET.

To qualify for the grant program, you must:

Be a for-profit business located and registered in one of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia
Have less than $1M in 2022 gross annual revenue
Have a commitment to their customers and community
Have a clear plan for how the funds will help them achieve a significant growth milestone in 2023

Amounts will be awarded based on a variety of scoring factors including but not limited to need for and intended use of funds, plan for growth, industry, and annual revenue.

Serve DC is looking for engaged residents to join the Commission for National and Community Service. The Commission's purpose is to encourage community service and volunteer participation as a means of community and state problem-solving; to promote and support voluntary citizen involvement in government and private programs throughout the District of Columbia; to develop a comprehensive vision and strategic plan for community service initiatives in the District of Columbia; and to serve as the District's liaison between national and other state organizations in concert with the District of Columbia strategic plan.

Interested residents engaged in the nonprofit, youth, philanthropic, business, and labor communities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Anacostia River Kayak Cleanup

Shift 1: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Shift 2: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Clean up the Anacostia River in style! Join us and Living Classrooms to clean up trash and debris from the river in a kayak. You’ll be assisted and guided by staff certified in paddling education and CPR/First Aid. There is no age requirement, but children should be able to sit independently in their own seat while out on the water. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The EDCJCC is very excited to bring volunteers at DC Central Kitchen's brand-new facility! Volunteers will work in the professional kitchen to chop vegetables, sort fresh produce, mix salads, portion meals, and more. Volunteers must be 12 to participate.
