Greetings Service Ambassadors,

2023 is upon us!

So far this new year is off to a terrific start.

Last week, we were honored to witness our Mayor take the oath of office for a historic third time. Watch the Mayor's Inaugural Address here or read it here.

As I stood at her historic inauguration as a proud member of the Mayor's cabinet, I was reminded of how central and critical our work at Serve DC is in advancing the Mayor's vision for our city the next four years.

From the pandemic, to protests, to an insurrection, we've watched our Mayor lead our city with unparalleled determination and courage. And together - in service - we've risen to the challenges. Now more than ever, we are laser-focused on following through with her vision with optimism and hope about the future of Washington, DC.

With this I mind, I want to personally invite you to join us on Saturday, January 14 for our MLK Day of Action at Arthur Capper Community Center. As we think about some of our city’s most critical challenges such as gun violence, food and housing insecurity, among others, we are reminded that each one of us is responsible for doing our part and for making change – moving us closer to achieving Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. And we can do that through service. So, as we look at what’s to come, we encourage you to join us in all the incredible things that we’ll accomplish – together.

Sign up for MLK Day of Action today.

In partnership and collaboration,

Alexis L. Squire

Director and Chief Service Officer

Team

Mayoral Swearing-In Ceremony

Our Serve DC team had the pleasure of witnessing and taking part in history as Mayor Bowser was sworn in as the 1st African American woman to be elected to three, four-year terms as Mayor of an American City.

In addition to witnessing the Mayor get sworn in, all members of our team had the opportunity to get sworn in by Mayor Bowser herself.

We are honored and grateful - and most of all, we are ready to get to work.
