DPR Offers Spring Break Camps for District Youth

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will offer DPR Spring “Parktacular” Break Camps for District youth ages 3 – 12 years old from Monday, April 2 – Friday, April 6, 2012, from 9 am to 5 pm.  Before/after care will be provided from 8 am to 9 am, and 5 pm to 6 pm, respectively.  Registration starts today, Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

DPR Spring Break Camps will take place in tandem with the District of Columbia Public Schools’ spring break and will provide youth with a variety of structured games, activities, sports, arts and crafts, and field trips while regular school is not in session.  DPR’s goal is to plant the seeds of personal development and environmental responsibility in a fun, engaging recreation setting.

This year, DPR Spring Break Camp Facilities are divided by age groups:
    •    For 3 - 5 year olds: Deanwood Recreation Center, Trinidad Recreation Center and Friendship Recreation Centers;
    •    For 6 - 12 year olds: Chevy Chase Community Center, Fort Davis Community Center, Fort Greble, Riggs LaSalle Recreation Center, Trinidad Recreation Center, Turkey Thicket Recreation Centers and Aqua Day at Deanwood Recreation Center.

There is a $50 camp only registration fee, and a $10 before and after care fee, for the entire week.  Please note that Breakfast and Lunch will not be provided this year.

Registration can completed online at dpr.dc.gov or in person at the specific Recreation Center or Facility where your child will attend the Spring Break Camp.
