Temporary Lane Closures for Rehabilitation of 16th Street Bridge NW Project through September 23, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) anticipates the implementation of the following lane closures on the 16th Street Bridge and on the Piney Branch Parkway, NW (from Arkansas Avenue, NW to Beach Drive), as part of the on-going 16th Street Bridge rehabilitation work, beginning onMonday, September 19, 2022, and to last through Friday, September 23, 2022, weather permitting to necessitate the following:
Monday 9/19 through Friday 9/23
Closures on Piney Branch are related to the Rock Creek Trail project continue.
Monday 9/19 through Friday 9/23 and Ongoing
Phase 2 MOT and Pedestrian West sidewalk Detour: 2 outermost SB lanes on the bridge will be closed full-time to facilitate bridge deck removal and replacement 24 hours a day
3 Lanes on 16th Street will remain open to traffic at all times as follows:
Morning Peak: Two SB Lanes, One NB Lane
All Other Times: Two NB Lanes, One SB Lane)
Pedestrian are advised to use the East Sidewalk for north-south access across the bridge
Traffic control devices will be in place to warn pedestrians, cyclists and drivers approaching the work zone(s). Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling near the work locations, be prepared for possible detours and to be observant of the work zone. Cyclists should be prepared to adjust their route accordingly. Metro bus will continue their routes. Flaggers will be available to manage traffic and arrow boards will be utilized, as necessary.
