Temporary Lane Closures for the Rehabilitation of 16th Street Bridge over Piney Branch, Parkway NW Project from August 22 through August 26, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) anticipates the implementation of the following temporary lane closures on the Piney Branch Parkway, NW (from Arkansas Avenue, NW to Beach Drive) and on the 16th Street Bridge, as part of the on-going 16th Street Bridge rehabilitation work, beginning on Monday, August 22, 2022, and to last through Friday, August 26, 2022, weather permitting to necessitate the following:
Monday 8/22 through Friday 8/26
Closures on Piney Branch are related to the Rock Creek Trail project.
Monday 8/22 through Tuesday 8/23 (Day)
16th Street - Ongoing Phase 1 and East Sidewalk Detour. As part of Phase 1 Maintenance of Traffic, the two outermost Northbound lanes are closed to facilitate bridge deck removal and replacement. These closures will be in effect 24 hours a day. Three lanes on 16th Street will remain open to traffic at all times.
Tuesday 8/23 (night) thru Friday 8/26 and Ongoing
Switch to Phase 2 MOT and West sidewalk detour. As part of Phase 2 Maintenance of Traffic, the two outermost Southbound lanes will be closed to facilitate bridge deck removal and replacement. Phase 1 will be completed and opened to traffic. These closures will be in effect 24 hours a day. Three lanes on 16th Street will remain open to traffic at all times.
Pedestrian are advised to use the East Sidewalk for north-south access across the bridge
Motorists are urged to obey traffic advisory instructions and use caution as they travel in these areas, to anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful of construction personnel.
