Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections beginning August 8, 2022, weather permitting.
Ramp from Southbound I-395 to Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) and continuing onto Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E. and Virginia Avenue, S.E., a right lane closure of the Ramp from Southbound I-395 to Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) continuing onto Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E. and Virginia Avenue, S.E on Monday, August 8, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) and continuing onto Ramp from Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) to 6th Street S.E. over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E., 2nd Street, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., and 3rd Street, S.E., a right lane closure of Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) and Ramp from Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) 6th Street S.E. over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E., 2nd Street, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., and 3rd Street, S.E. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over 3rd Street, S.E., 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., New Jersey Avenue, S.E., and South Capitol Street, a right lane closure of Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over 3rd Street, S.E., 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., New Jersey Avenue, S.E., and South Capitol Street on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) continuing onto Ramp from Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) to Northbound I-395 over 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., New Jersey Avenue, S.E., and South Capitol Street, a right lane closure of Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) continuing onto Ramp from Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) to Northbound I-395 over 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., New Jersey Avenue, S.E., and South Capitol Street on Thursday, August 11, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Southeast Freeway (I-695) over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E., 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., and 3rd Street, S.E., a left lane closure of Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E., 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., and 3rd Street, S.E. followed by a left lane closure of Westbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) over South Capitol Street, New Jersey Avenue, S.E., 2nd Steet, S.E./Virginia Avenue, S.E., and 3rd Street, S.E. on Friday, August 12, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over Potomac Parkway- BR. 1200- Day-right Lane westbound remains closed to vehicular traffic. Single temporary lane closure needed for eastbound and westbound on Theodore Roosevelt Bridge during the hours of 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Three lanes in each direction currently open to traffic. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be in effect weather permitting on Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Theodore Roosevelt Bridge Ramps C, D and E to/from Rte 50- Day- Theodore Roosevelt Bridge Ramps C, D & E to/from Rte 50- partial ramp closures needed for both Eastbound Ramp C and Westbound Ramp D and E. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Ramp will remain open to traffic, but will be partially closed to facilitate work underneath the ramps. Partial ramp closures will be between the hours of 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, weather permitting on Monday August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over Potomac Parkway- BR. 1200- Night-right Lane westbound remains closed to vehicular traffic. Single temporary lane closure needed for eastbound and westbound on Theodore Roosevelt Bridge during the hours of 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Three lanes in each direction currently open to traffic. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be in effect weather permitting on Sunday, August 7 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Ramp from I-66 to Whitehurst Freeway over Potomac Parkway and Rock Creek-BR.1303- Single Lane closure needed on Rock Creek Parkway. Partial ramp closure needed on the Ramps to/from Rock Creek Parkway. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be between the hours of 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, weather permitting on Monday August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
East Capitol Street Anacostia River- BR. 233- single lane closures needed on East Capitol Street. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM, weather permitting on Monday August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Chain Bridge over Potomac River- BR.001- single lane closures needed on Chain Bridge. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting on Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Key Bridge over Potomac River- BR.007- single lane closures needed on Key Bridge. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting on Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12, 2022.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
