Temporary Single Lane Closures of I-295 Southbound and Northbound near Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge for Next Five Weeks
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will have single lane closures for southbound and northbound of I-295 by Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge for approximately the next five weeks.
These closures are necessary to install two (2) caissons and to move an electrical pole that are right next to I-295 for the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project.
Once completed, the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project will remove and replace the existing bridge over Kenilworth Avenue, NE (DC-295) and adjacent service roads with a new bridge with increased vertical clearance and ADA compliant ramps, as well as improving the bridge’s structural integrity.
