Traffic Pattern Change on Howard Road SE for Thursday Night, June 23, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement a change in traffic pattern on Howard Road SE between the access to the WMATA Anacostia Metro Station parking garage (west of I-295) and the intersection with Firth Sterling Avenue SE. This will result in the travel lanes being shifted to the north while maintaining the same number of lanes as exist currently.
The change in traffic pattern will begin on Thursday night, June 23, 2022 at 9:00 p.m., with work being completed by 5:00 a.m. the following morning. Access to all WMATA facilities will be maintained throughout the night, and all pedestrian facilities will remain open.
These closures are necessary for construction activities associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project which includes construction of the New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and the reconstruction of the I-295/ Suitland Parkway interchange.
Please observe the posted speed limit and proceed through the construction area with caution. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to stay alert and follow signage when traveling through this area.
