Temporary Lane Closures for Roadway Work on I-295 from Pennsylvania Avenue SE to Nannie Helen Burroughs to Begin Monday, June 6, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin roadway repairs to include milling and paving on I-295 from Pennsylvania Avenue SE to Nannie Helen Burroughs on or about Monday, June 6, 2022, weather permitting. The repairs are anticipated to be completed by July 15, 2022. The contractor is authorized to work nighttime Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The contractor is authorized to work Saturdays based on prior DDOT approval.
Intermittent and temporary road closures will be in place. Work will begin in the northbound lanes first followed by work on the southbound lanes once there is substantial completion of the northbound lanes.
Access ramps will temporarily close when the work is in the vicinity of the ramp. Traffic may be detoured during temporary road closures.
The following northbound detours may be in effect:
Pennsylvania Avenue SE to Minnesota Avenue SE to Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue Fwy.
East Capitol Street NE to Minnesota Avenue SE to Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue Fwy
Benning Road NE to Minnesota Avenue SE to Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue NE to Kenilworth Avenue Fwy
Traffic control devices will be in place to warn drivers approaching the work zone(s). Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling near the work locations, be prepared for possible detours and to be observant of the work zone.
