Temporary Lane Closures for Routine Bridge Maintenance through May 14, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections:
Northbound Center Leg, Inner Loop (I-395) under F Street, N.W. and G Street, N.W., alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Center Leg (I-395) under F Street, N.W. and G Street, N.W. on May 9th, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Whitehurst Freeway, N.W. over K Street, N.W. and Water Street, N.W., alternating right and left lane closures of Southbound Whitehurst Freeway, N.W. over K Street, N.W. and Water Street, N.W. followed by alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Whitehurst Freeway, N.W. over K Street, N.W. and Water Street, N.W. on May 9th and 10th, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM through 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Ramp from Eastbound Southeast Freeway (I-695) to South Capitol Street, S.E., alternating right and left ramp narrowing closures of the ramp from Eastbound Southeast Freeway to South Capitol Street, S.E. on May 11th, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM through 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Ramp from Southbound Center Leg, Inner Loop (I-395) to South Capitol Street, S.E., alternating right and left ramp narrowing closures of the ramp from Southbound Center Leg, Inner Loop (I-395) to South Capitol Street, S.E. on May 11th, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM through 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Oxon Run Bay, alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Oxon Run Bay followed by alternating right and left lane closures of Southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Oxon Run Bay on May 13th, 2022, during the hours of 10:00 AM through 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over Potomac Parkway- BR. 1200 single lane closure needed for eastbound and westbound on Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. Two lanes will always be opened for traffic in both directions. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be in effect for 24 hours, weather permitting on Monday, May 9 through Saturday, May 14, 2022.
DC I-295 over CSX Railroad Yard- BR. 505- single lane closures needed for northbound and southbound on DC I-295. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be between the hours of 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting on Sunday, May 8 through Friday, May 13, 2022.
DC I-295 over Nicholson Street Bridge-BR. 1001, Northbound- Single alternating lane closures will be implemented on DC-295 during the night time hours of 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM- leaving one lane open for traffic at all times. Exit ramps to East and West Pennsylvania Ave will remain open during the daytime and mobile shoulder closures will be used for exit ramps during night time hours to remove the current pavement markings for the work zone. Heavy congestion expected during this operation and travelers are advised to seek alternate route. Southbound- Single alternating lane closures on DC-295 will be implemented between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM – leaving one lane open to traffic at all times. Exit ramp to East Pennsylvania Ave will remain open during the daytime and mobile shoulder closures will be used for exit ramp during night time hours to remove the current pavement markings for the work zone. Heavy congestion expected during this operation and travelers are advised to seek alternate route. I-695 Eastbound – Single alternating lane closures will be implemented between 8:00 pm to 5:00 am - leaving one lane open for traffic at all times. Heavy congestion expected during this operation and travelers are advised to seek alternate route. The anticipated work is expected to occur during the week of May 8 to May 13, 2022. Proper variable message board and traffic control devices will be in place to notify the public of changes.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
