Temporary Lane Closures for Routine Bridge Maintenance from May 2 through May 7, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes on the following roadways for bridge preventative maintenance construction activities beginning May 2 through May 7, 2022, weather permitting.
Operation hours and locations are listed below:
Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over Potomac Parkway- BR.1200 single lane closure needed for eastbound and westbound on Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. Two lanes will always be opened for traffic in both directions. Proper variable message board will be in place to notify the public of changes. Lane closures will be in effect for 24 hours, weather permitting on Monday, May 2 through Saturday, May 7, 2022.
DC I-295 over Nicholson Street Bridge-BR. 1001, Northbound- Two left lanes including left shoulder will remain closed on the bridge with two right lanes open for thru traffic. Exit ramps to East and West Pennsylvania Ave will remain open during the daytime. Additional temporary lane closures will be implemented during the hours of 8:00PM to 5:00AM to facilitate bridge resurfacing work; leaving one lane open for traffic. Heavy congestion expected during this operation and travelers are advised to seek alternate route. Southbound- Two left lanes closure on SB DC-295 including left shoulder on the bridge leaving the right lane and right shoulder open to traffic during the daytime. Additional one lane closure will be implemented and only one lane will be available for through traffic during night-time for bridge resurfacing work from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. Heavy congestion expected during this operation and travelers are advised to seek alternate route. Daytime closures will remain 24-hours for the entire week; additional temporary night-time lane closures will be between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am. The anticipated work is expected to occur during the week of May 2 to May 7. Proper variable message board and traffic control devices will be in place to notify the public of changes.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
