Temporary Lane Closures for 16th Street NW Bus Lanes Project through April 30, 2022
Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising all stakeholders to expect the continued intermittent closing of northbound and southbound travel lanes along 16th Street NW occurring one lane at a time during the off-peak hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Construction will occur on Saturday, April 23, 2022, and Saturday, April 30, 2022. The following construction activity will take place in the upcoming weeks, weather permitting.
Black out signs along 16th St NW will be activated beginning Friday, April 29, 2022.
16th Street NW from Arkansas Avenue NW to Irving Street NW – Bus Lane striping operations are anticipated to continues through Friday, April 22, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activities will take place during off peaks hours from 9:30 m. – 3:30 p.m. Striping activities will be completed block by block heading southbound.
16th Street NW from Arkansas Avenue NW to Irving Street NW – SPECIAL NOTICE: The lane configuration for this segment is two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound with the center lane closed to traffic until Friday, April 29, 2022. Please adhere to the signage
16th Street NW from Irving Street NW to Euclid Street NW – Bus Lane striping operations are anticipated to continues through Friday, April 22, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activities will take place during off peaks hours from 9:30 m. – 3:30 p.m. Striping activities will be completed block by block heading southbound.
16th Street NW from U Street NW to V Street NW – Milling and paving operations will begin from U Street NW to V Street NW from Wednesday, April 20, 2022, through Friday, April 23, 2022. Construction activities will take place during off peaks hours from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Please adhere to the Emergency No Parking signage posted.
16th Street NW from U Street NW to Swann Street NW – Milling and paving operations will begin from U Street NW to V Street NW from Monday, April 25, 2022, through Friday, April 29, 2022. Construction activities will take place during off peaks hours from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Please adhere to the Emergency No Parking signage posted.
Roadway users should expect short interruptions to two-way traffic. Travel lanes will be tapered as necessary to allow for the safe channelizing of traffic. Temporary sidewalk closures may be required during construction. Pedestrian channelizers, detours, and signage will be installed when these sidewalk closures are needed.
These intermittent lane closures and activities are necessary to complete work related to the 16th Street NW Bus Lanes project from Arkansas Avenue NW to K Street NW.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the work zone. All users of the roadway are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
Once completed, the 16th Street NW Bus Lanes project will improve the performance and reliability of bus routes and pedestrian access along 16th Street NW from Arkansas Avenue NW to H Street NW.
