Temporary Service Road Closure on Kenilworth Avenue NE Southbound
(Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will extend the closure of the southbound service road of Kenilworth Avenue, NE between Quarles Street, NE to Ord Street, NE, due to inclement weather until March 21, 2022, weather permitting.
The closure will be in place for approximately 3 additional weeks.
This closure is necessary to relocate utilities as part of the initial stages of the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project.
Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to detour vehicles around the work zone using Quarles Street, NE, Anacostia Avenue, NE, and Ord Street, NE.
Once completed, the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project will remove and replace the existing bridge over Kenilworth Avenue, NE (DC-295) and adjacent service roads with a new bridge with increased vertical clearance and ADA compliant ramps, as well as improving the bridge’s structural integrity.
