Temporary Lane Closure on I-295 Northbound Beginning January 13, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT)

will close the right lane of northbound I-295 by Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge beginning January 13, 2022, weather permitting.

The closure will be in place for approximately 2 weeks.

This closure is necessary to perform soil borings for Cantilever sign as part of the initial stages of the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project.

Once completed, the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project will remove and replace the existing bridge over Kenilworth Avenue, NE (DC-295) and adjacent service roads with a new bridge with increased vertical clearance and ADA compliant ramps, as well as improving the bridge’s structural integrity.
