Temporary Lane Closures of Kenilworth Avenue NE Northbound Service Right Lane on December 27, 2021

(Washington, D.C.) -The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the right lane of the northbound service road of Kenilworth Avenue, NE between Nash Street, NE to Polk Street, NE beginning today, Monday, December 27, 2021, weather permitting.

The closure will be in place for approximately 2 weeks.

This closure is necessary to install MOT barriers as part of the initial stages of the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project. Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to detour vehicles around the work zone.

Once completed, the Douglas Street Pedestrian Bridge project will remove and replace the existing bridge over Kenilworth Avenue, NE (DC-295) and adjacent service roads with a new bridge with increased vertical clearance and ADA compliant ramps, as well as improving the bridge’s structural integrity.
