Temporary Right Lane Closures on I-295 Southbound between Exit 2 and Exit 1 from October 4 through October 12, 2021

(Washington, D.C.) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the southbound right lane on I-295 between Exits 1 and 2 for milling and final paving/striping operations beginning October 4, 2021 through October 12, 2021, weather permitting.

Operational hours will be 7AM-2PM daily, weather permitting.  Periodic brief closures of Exit 1 - US Naval Research Lab/Blue Plains may occur during this time so the public is advised to use Exit 2 - South Capitol St./Malcolm X Ave./JBAB as an alternate.

Periodic lane closures will be required for equipment mobilization, utility upgrades, and pavement work, including guardrail installations associated with this location as part of multiple DDOT improvement projects along the I-295/DC 295 corridor.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
