Temporary Lane Closures for Routine Bridge and Tunnel Inspections from September 12 through September 17, 2021 

 

(Washington, D.C.) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for routine bridge and tunnel inspections: 

 

Northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Nicholson Street, S.E., alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Nicholson Street, S.E. on Monday, September 13, during the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm

 

Southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Nicholson Street, S.E., alternating right and left lane closures of Southbound Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Nicholson Street, S.E.  on Tuesday, September 14, during the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm 

 

Virginia Avenue Tunnel under 23rd Street (Tunnel 10) closure alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures on Sunday, September 12, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Dupont Circle Tunnel (101) Underpass Connecticut Ave NW northbound closure on Monday, September 13, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Mall Tunnel I-395 (1142) Northbound left lanes closure then right lanes closure on Tuesday, September 14, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Air Rights tunnel I-395 (1143) left lanes closure then right lanes closure on Wednesday, September 15, from 8:00 pm to 4:30am

 

SW Freeway over 12th St (Tunnel 1113) Right and left lane southbound closure on Thursday, September 16, from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am

 

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel
