Tomorrow, join Mayor Muriel Bowser and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) for a 5K race and community day to celebrate the opening of the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge. This will be a day of family-friendly fun, food, and live music. Residents of all ages and abilities are invited!
Monday September 6 Event Schedule
- 7:30 am - T-Shirt Pick-up at Audi Field. All registered 5K participants will receive a commemorative logo t-shirt.
- 9:00 am - The 5K will kick off from the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge!
- 10:00 am - Community Day Celebration. After the 5K, Mayor Bowser and DDOT will host a community celebration.

Ribbon Cutting, Next Day
The festivities don't stop there! On Tuesday, September 7, Mayor Bowser will join federal partners, members of the Douglass family, and other invited guests and dignitaries for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Residents across all eight wards are invited to participate.
