DDOT TRAFFIC ADVISORY:  Temporary Lane Closures for Routine Bridge and Tunnel Inspections from August 7 through August 13, 2021

 

 Temporary Lane Closures for Routine Bridge and Tunnel Inspections from August 7 through August 13, 2021  

 

(Washington, D.C.) - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge preventive maintenance construction activities beginning August 7 through August 13, 2021, weather permitting.

 

Operation hours and locations are listed below:

 

Military Road over Joyce Road and Luzon Stream, single lane closures on Military Road alternating between east and westbound lane on Saturday, August 7 thru Friday, August 13, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting. 

 

Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over Potomac, alternating lane closures for both east and westbound traffic for on-going full depth deck repairs. Once Eastbound repairs are complete, will flip over to Westbound. Repairs on Westbound will require double right lane closures. Lane closures will be during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting on Saturday, August 7 thru Friday, August 13.

 

I-395 over 4^th Street, single lane closure with flagging operation underneath on 4^th Street. Lane closure will be during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00PM, weather permitting on Monday, August 9 thru Friday, August 13, 2021.

 

Kenilworth over Burroughs Ave NE, single lane closures alternating between Northbound and Southbound lanes to complete re-striping construction activities, weather permitting on Monday, August 9 thru Friday, August 13, 2021

 

Southern Ave. over Suitland Parkway, single lane closures required to complete preventive maintenance work, weather permitting on Monday, August 9 thru Friday, August 13, 2021 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

 

14^th Street Bridge over Potomac, single lane closures required to complete preventive maintenance work on the Northbound side, weather permitting on Wednesday, August 11 thru Friday 13, 2021 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

 

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
