Temporary Lane 
Closures for Routine Bridge and Tunnel Inspections from August 2 through August 5, 2021

                   

(Washington, DC) —The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways for bridge and tunnel inspections beginning August 2 through to August 5 2021, weather permitting.

 

The locations and operational hours are noted below:

 

Kenilworth Avenue, N.E., under CSX Railroad, alternating right and left lane closures of Northbound Kenilworth Avenue, N.E., under CSX Railroad followed by alternating right and left lane closures of Southbound Kenilworth Avenue, N.E., under CSX Railroad on Monday, August 2, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting. 

 

9th Street Expressway under the CSX Railroad Bridge, alternating right and left lane closures of the 9th Street Expressway under the CSX Railroad Bridge on Tuesday, August 3, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.

 

Maine Avenue, S.W., under the CSX Railroad Bridge and Pedestrian Walkway Bridge, alternating right and left lane closures of Westbound Maine Avenue, S.W., under the CSX railroad bridge and pedestrian walkway bridge followed by alternating right and left lane closures of Eastbound Maine Avenue, S.W., under the CSX railroad bridge and pedestrian walkway bridge on Thursday, August 4, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.

 

I-395 Southwest Freeway under CSX Railroad Bridge, alternating single lane closures of Westbound I-395 Southwest Freeway under CSX Railroad Bridge followed by alternating single lane closures of Eastbound I-395 Southwest Freeway under CSX Railroad Bridge on Thursday, August 5, during the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.

 

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas.  Motorists should anticipate moderate-to-heavy delays due to the lane closures.  Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
