Here's a brief overview on various government functions within the DMOI cluster that are resuming.
DPW Resumes Booting Enforcement on July 1
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will resume booting enforcement on July 1. The DPW offers several important tips, including: (1) a vehicle is boot-eligible if it has two or more unsatisfied parking and/or photo enforcement tickets that are 60 days old; (2) booted vehicles are automatically subject to impoundment, which will result in additional towing and storage fees—so fees should be paid as soon as possible; (3) the MyDPW app can send alerts if your vehicle is booted/towed. See the announcement for the full list of tips. DPW tickets and fines can range from $25 to $1,000.
DC DMV to Resume Walk-in Service Beginning Week of July 19
DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) Service Centers and Adjudication Services will return to walk-in service beginning the week of July 19. In-person service becomes available on a first-come, first-serve basis at Adjudication Services starting Monday, July 19, and at all DC DMV Service Centers starting Tuesday, July 20.
DC DMV will honor all appointments made through Saturday, July 17 but none will be available after that date. Scheduling road tests for commercial and noncommercial driver licenses will remain by appointment only.
The Inspection Station operates on a first come, first serve basis. For its regular Spring/Summer hours, go here. Also note that the Self-Service (OBD) Vehicle Inspection Kiosk is open 24/7 for inspection renewals for vehicle models 2005 and newer.
Two DC DMV locations will have special weekend hours to accommodate residents. See this announcement for those details.

DC DMV Extended Deadline for Renewing Expired Driver License/identification (ID) Cards to September 9, 2021. The previously announced deadline was July 1, 2021. This action gives residents more time to conduct services that require an in-person appointment at a DC DMV Service Center.

Parking Enforcement. DPW resumed full enforcement of the following parking violations on June 1: expired parking meters; expired residential parking permits (RPP); expired vehicle tags; parking in rush-hour restricted areas; parking in no parking zones (violators will be towed and ticketed); registration of residential out-of-state automobiles (ROSA); abandoned vehicles (i.e., with flat tires, expired registrations); and parking in street sweeping zones during posted sweeping hours.
-
Ticket Amnesty Program in Effect. This program gives drivers the opportunity to pay outstanding parking, photo enforcement and minor moving violation tickets. It runs through September 30, 2021, and includes tickets issued before that date. Eligible drivers only pay the original ticket amount; penalties are waived. However, any DPW tow and storage fees are not waived. See ticketamnesty.dc.gov.
