Temporary Closure and Detour of Rock Creek Multi-Use Trail Starting June 7, 2021

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is advising all stakeholders to expect the temporary closure of the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail between the Grove 1 footbridge to Peirce Mill. The trail closure will begin on or about Monday, June 7, 2021, weather permitting, and be in place for approximately two months.

This trail closure is necessary to reconstruct the existing Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and timber bridge at Peirce Mill as part of the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge project.

Temporary trail mats will be in place between the Grove 1 footbridge and Peirce Mill to detour trail users round the construction zone.

Once completed, the Rock Creek Park Multi-Use Trail and Pedestrian Bridge project will improve accessibility and connectivity to Rock Creek Park with improvements such as new and reconstructed trails, and a new 110-foot pedestrian bridge south of the Zoo Tunnel.
