Temporary Lane Closures for I-395 Sign Structure Improvement Project from May 24 through May 28, 2021

     

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes, ramps and shoulders on the following roadways to perform construction activities along I-395 and I-695 for the replacement of signage and sign structures. Work is scheduled to take place starting Monday, May 24 through Friday, May 28, 2021 weather permitting. These closure dates and times are contingent on suitable weather, field conditions, and/or adjacent construction activities. 

 

The following are the lane and shoulder closures that will be in place during the following days and time-periods.

 

Weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.:

  • Single Left Lane Closure on I-395 Northbound between 7th Street SW and Center Leg Freeway.
  • Single Right Lane Closure on I-395 Northbound between 7th Street SW and Center Leg Freeway.
  • Single Left Lane Closure on I-395 Southbound between Center Leg Freeway and 7th Street SW.
  • Single Right Lane Closure in both directions on New York Avenue NE from West Virginia Avenue NE to east of Bladensburg Road NE (starting at 9:30 a.m.).

Weeknights from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning:

  • Double Left Lane Closures in both directions on New York Avenue NE from West Virginia Avenue NE to east of Bladensburg Avenue NE.
  • Triple Right Lane Closure on I-395 Northbound between Maine Avenue SW and Center Leg Freeway.

For the closures of the ramps from 7th Street SW and the 9th Street Expressway to I-395 Northbound, vehicles will be detoured via Maine Avenue SW, M Street SW, South Capitol Street, and Washington Avenue SW.
