Reconstruction of the Pinehurst Branch Bridge on Oregon Avenue NW Begins May 5, 2021
(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin construction on Phase 3A of the Oregon Avenue Reconstruction Project on May 5, 2021, weather permitting. Phase 3A construction activities will take place between Beech Street and Jones Way (private driveway) on the Pinehurst Bridge. This work will take 3 months to complete, weather permitting.
Phase 3A will allow for the following:
- Reconstruction of the Pinehurst Branch Bridge
- Installation of retaining walls
- District of Columbia Power Line Undergrounding (DC PLUG) work
- Installation of DC Water underground conduits
It is important to note that two-way traffic will be permitted on Oregon Avenue from Jones Way (private driveway) to Tennyson Street in order to facilitate access to residences on the 6300 block of Oregon Avenue, Unicorn Lane, Oregon Knolls Drive, and Jones Way (private driveway). Traffic attempting to travel northbound or southbound along Oregon Avenue between Beech Street NW and Jones Way (private driveway) must follow detour signage along the project corridor.
The Phase 3A bridge construction and roadway closure will begin on May 5, 2021. This road closure is necessary to complete Phase 3A of the Oregon Avenue Reconstruction Project.
Traffic controls and signage will be in place to safely guide all motorist through the work zone. Motorists are urged to use caution as they travel in these areas, to anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful of construction personnel.
